MCT Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 First12. Very often we see meaningless subjects in topic title. They give no clue of what the posts are all about. For example: - Oh no! - Help - I'm mad - Please help - Question - I need your help - Hmmmm .... This should be avoided. Users should enter something more specific in topic title so that it is easier for others to help.A few good examples: - Strange problem with DirectX9b redist- RunOnceEx install problem (double installation)- Change Internet Explorer's Icon back to defaultnext..ive gotten mine down 2 168MB With SP2 *without losing funtionality*120MB without sp2others have gotten it smalleru can remove dllcache which will save about 300MB or so also.. check your "windows" directory & see how big that is..im guessing its probly around 700MB if u have dllcache still but if your systemdrive is 1.7GB dont install so many programs
Hell-Stopper Posted November 18, 2004 Author Posted November 18, 2004 lol did u do all this with nlite? or u went down really far manually into the folder?(notice ur from canada too thx for the title tips ill put in a more detailed title next time cheers )
prathapml Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 I'd say a major portion of why it is occupying 1.7 GB is your hibernate and swap-file. You can configure those to eliminate it, let's see if nuhi adds that feature to nLite. My nLite'd install, (without losing functionality) is approx 550 MB (on the hard-disk) after install. So you can certainly reduce it from the level it is for you (1.7 GB is too much!).
Hell-Stopper Posted November 22, 2004 Author Posted November 22, 2004 nice 550mb thats pretty sweet im going to work on it when i get home from school today, too much work, these few weeks.
Hell-Stopper Posted November 23, 2004 Author Posted November 23, 2004 hey, i just disabled swap and the hibernate file, my xp is now at 544mbs im still gonna try and get it smaller. thx for the tips any more is welcomed
