Help on .cab file creation

Hi,

I'm loking for a .cab file creation tool (not winrar,winzip...).

In fact, i try to make a cabinet files for use with MS office 2003 installer package.

Hidden away in the windows/system32 directory is iexpress.exe this should guide you through the creation of all the cab files you need. It also makes self extracting files as well. A well hidden little gem.

This utility allows you to drag and drop any file to it's window and have it run modifype and makecab with the LZX compression at it's highest setting (equivalent to the compression used on the Windows CD) on the file. The file is compressed and written to the same filename in the same location with an underscore replacing the last character in the filename. IMPORTANT: modifype.exe and makecab.exe MUST be in your path (preferably \windows\system32).

CABbing uncompressed install source is a waste of time! Anyway compressing down individual files will break setup functionality. I'd prefer to just make a RAR/SFX of the entire office 2003 folder. That will give better compression.
