FAT64 Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Windows XP has the bizarre property of being able to browse a domain even when you are logged on locally, i.e. not logged onto the domain. Is there any way of switching this off??
tguy Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Sure is. Disable the Computer Browser service.Open Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> ServicesDouble click the Computer Browser service to open the applet.Change the Startup Type to DisabledThat should do it.tguy
FAT64 Posted November 12, 2004 Author Posted November 12, 2004 Won't that also prevent them from browsing locally??
tguy Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 No, you can still browse local disk and mapped network drives.
