smserba Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 I have been searching the 'net for an hour trying to get information on how to return the ability to view secure sites, like internet banking, to installed versions of IE. Prior to installing SP2, the 128-bit encrypted version of IE was installed.I know it would either be an ActiveX or Java control, but I am at a loss to find where to get information.Any assistance would be appreciated.Stephanie SerbaPartner, Durham Business OutsourceAccounting & Technologysmserba <at> dbo <dot> cawww.dbo.ca
buletov Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 i had the same issue...resolved it by installing sun java 1.5.0 and using mozilla firefox instead of ie....
oioldman Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 I think SP2 is 128bit, Click Help | About and cipher strength confirms that thought, and if you add the required site within the trusted sites section of Internet Options, you will then get the padlock in the IE system tray.Saying that, if it is a secure site, you access it by https:// this will tell you that you are accessing a Secure Site.I'm guessing that is what you mean?
