in Word go to Insert > Symbol then find them on there or:

For the ß symbol:

Hold down CTRL+SHIFT, press AMPERSAND (&) then let go and tap the letter S.

For the ä symbol:

Hold down CTRL+SHIFT, press COLON (:) then let go and tap the letter A, put caps lock on to do it in capitals.

bit fiddy, that's the only way i can think of doing it, short of having those keys on your keyboard or setting up a macro.

hope this is of some use to you.

Paul.

i've got æ and ß, respectively by, "ctrl+shft+&" + "a" and "ctrl+shft+&" + "s",

but got ã by "ctrl+shft+:" + "a"!

how can i get ä by "Hold down CTRL+SHIFT, press COLON"?

is "~" "colon"?

thanks!
