edg21 Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 How can I force an application to use a spceific network adapter on my computer?1) Wired NIC2) Wireless NICI need to force an application to use the wireless nic.. any suggestions?
gabriel_buc Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 I assume that every network adapter has a different IP. So in your application you must specify which IP to use thus involving the network adapter NIC.It's just a thought. This is how i manage my two network adapters on my PC.Cheers

gabriel_buc Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 As I said before I have 2 network adapters. One used for directly connecting to the internet, the other one is used to create a network with another computer who can also acces the internet via ICS.I use Azureus on the first computer (the one with 2 network adapters) WITHOUT specifing which IP to use. It detects by itself.Anyway you can force which IP to use. For that go to View>Configuration>ServerThere you have 2 textboxes "Override IP adress sent to tracker" and "Bind to local IP". I must say that I don't know exactly what each option is used for. First try to put your wireless adapter IP in the second textbox to bind to local IP. See if it works... If not then try to fill the first textbox too.Hope this helps you.Tell me if it worked.Chers
edg21 Posted October 11, 2004 Author Posted October 11, 2004 Perhaps I should have been more descriptive in my previous posts sorry.Network Setup:NIC 1: SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI (SMC1211TX) - 10.0.0.100NIC 2: D-Link AirPlus DWL-520+ Wireless PCI Adapter - 192.168.1.205NIC 1 is connected to LinkSys BEFSR41 Wired RouterNIC 2 is connected to LinkSys BEFW154 Wireless RouterLinkSys BEFSR41 Wired Router is connected to DSL modem.LinkSys BEFW154 Wireless Router is connected to cable modem.Azureus Configuration:Configuration -> Serverxxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - Override IP address sent to tracker - Only use if you realy know why you'd need it!192.168.1.205 - Bind to local IP addressAzureus continues to use my wired adapter instead of my wireless adapter.Under network connections -> tools -> advanced, the wireless adapter has higher priority... still no luck.
gabriel_buc Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 In this case i'm sorry. I'm clueless. I have no other ideas ...
