User61 Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 Hi, I'd like to know if I can remove the $OEM$ folder that is in my Windows XP CD. And if I could, would it mess up anything? Is it linked to any other part of the XP CD? Thanks.
jpatto Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 The $OEM$ folder contains files from the manufacturer to "customise" Windows (help icons, manufacturer logos) and to install additional files such as drivers. Deleting the folder could mean reactivation too as some Cds carry the reg link to activate windows so you dont need to call MS to activate it if you ever reinstalled the system.
