Removing $OEM$ folder for slipstreaming

Featured Replies

Hi, I'd like to know if I can remove the $OEM$ folder that is in my Windows XP CD. And if I could, would it mess up anything? Is it linked to any other part of the XP CD? Thanks. :)

The $OEM$ folder contains files from the manufacturer to "customise" Windows (help icons, manufacturer logos) and to install additional files such as drivers. Deleting the folder could mean reactivation too as some Cds carry the reg link to activate windows so you dont need to call MS to activate it if you ever reinstalled the system.
