Is XP and Server 2003 device driver subsystem compatible? I believe the answer is yes but can someone confirm this?

If so, how can I make the install program think that it is installing on a XP machine, or in other words, how can I temporally change the reported Windows Version info t?

I have tried changing the compatibility mode of the setup.exe file to Windows XP

(Changing compatibility mode - HowTo: right click app, properties, Compatibility tab, Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP)

This solution works for some things but doesn't work, for example, on MSI files.

So, is there a way to change registry setting, etc to force a XP complaint application or driver to install on a 2003 Server?

PS. The reason for this request is because I am a software developer and I have to use Server 2003 machine otherwise I would be using XP Pro.

Thank you,

Tristen
