Huge problem -> Windows Installer messed up

Recommended Posts

This is a big problem which I experience all the time, with all of my self-created unattended XP CDs...

After a little use and few reboots of my fresh Windows installation Windows installer gets totally messed up. My newest install (nLite CD just created yesterday) lasted for a few hours, I had like 3 programs installed and Windows Installer gave up on me.... The service still runs, but I can't install anything anymore.... The dependancies box also becomes grey, for whatever that explains.

Here's some sys info:

Windows XP SP2 slipstreamed (Dutch) created with nLite

Services (A=automatic, M=manual, D=disabled)

Automatic updates=A

DHCP client=A

Plug and Play=A

Windows Management Instrumentation=A

Workstation=A

Windows Installer=M

Cryptographic services=D

Terminal Services=D

Background tranfer thingie=M

DCOM server process=D

WIA=D

Windows Firewall=D

(The As are ALL services that I allow to run automatically)

Guess those are the most important things which could be related to my problem. Unfortunately I don't have nLite installed yet so I can't give you guys a list of what Windows components I removed, but I'll do so later.
