aKaFrEE Posted September 15, 2002 Posted September 15, 2002 ok. I'm setting up a web server (apache and redhat 7.3) and I'm trying to use FTP as my means of logging in remotly. I'm tryin to set up Wu-FTPD to do this. I want to lock out anonymous users and just let users from a certain group log in. I have no idea how to do this. A guide for...erm..people rather new at linux would be nice. Thanks for the help.
aKaFrEE Posted September 16, 2002 Author Posted September 16, 2002 problem solved in #MSBetaNGswitched to Pure-FTPD
zivan56 Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 You just need to edit /etc/ftpusers and type in the users that you dont want to log in, there is no reason to switch to a different server Next time do:man wu-ftpdIt tells you lots of stuff there.
xper Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 WU-FTPD is bad choice. To many exploits. I prefer Pro-FTPD
FthrJACK Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 akafree, i told u xper and zivan would reply lolpro ftp IS much fast, from a clients perspective anyway, it was on xpers box when he had it on, very big difference i remember.
aKaFrEE Posted September 16, 2002 Author Posted September 16, 2002 hey, thanks for the input guys. yeah. Wu-FTPD was too hard to configure for what i wanted to do. So I put pure ftpd in there and it configured very easily.
