Kraptor
Hi all! I have some questions, cause I am a tad confused about some Microsoft products and nobody has given me a right answer yet.I know there is a MUI pack, that costs quite a lot. Also some say that there is a System Builder ver of XP Pro that comes with a MUI and it costs only 123 Ero? WTF??? That seems a bit too cheap. Could someone clarify this for me, please. What is a System builder exactly? I know it is an OEM and usually PC manufacturers get it, but does it come with a MUI with that? Thanks in advance! Kraptor
Well, I dont have a MSDN CD. Somehow I need to get MUI on a legal way, but so far nobody could give me a right answer, not even Microsoft. MS in Hungary says you can buy a MUI pack, but that costs a lot and it is only a licesne deal, while in Germany they say that there is a System Building pack that enables MUI. Could someone explain this to me and I dont wanna buy a MSDN CD.
enuffsaid
MSDN is expensive to accuire. If you've got acces to it, or know someone who does, ask him if he can get it for you. All languages are available through MSDN.If not... my tip for you... eDonkey.
jassalmithu
u kmow what MUI is , read on it will clear all ur factsWhat is Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI)?Multilingual User Interface Pack is a set of language specific resource files that can be added to the English version of Windows Professional. When installed on the English version of Windows, MUI allows the user interface language of the operating system to be changed according to the preferences of individual users to one of the 33 supported languages. This allows large corporations to roll out the same worldwide image with a single install job. Local users can then select the user interface language or it can be set by Group Policy for Organizational Units.MUI also allows different language users to share the same workstation or roaming users to take their localized user interface from one workstation to another. For instance, one user might choose to see system menus, dialogs and other text in Japanese, while another user logging onto the same system might prefer to see the corresponding text in FrenchWhat are the benefits of Windows MUI?MUI is intended to help reduce the Total Cost of Ownership for corporations operating in an international, multilingual environment. Typically three scenarios would support that cost reduction:One single rollout world-wide: Companies can roll out the English version of Windows with MUI worldwide without having to maintain different language versions. The local user can then select the user interface language, or the administrator can set it through a Group Policy. Hot Fixes and Service Packs will also be available at the same time for a worldwide simultaneous rollout. Easier support and administration: Helpdesk (or other support personnel) can set the workstation to English, or any other UI language, to more easily find problems. After fixing the problem the workstation can be set to the original UI language. For customers using Windows Server, MUI allows to use of the English product worldwide, and enable network administrators to administer the server in their native language. Shared workstations: MUI is controlled at the user level, and thus allows for customer scenarios whereby a single workstation is shared by multiple part-time or roaming employees. This also applies to Terminal Services scenario where each user can get a different user interface language depending on their preference.Hence MUI's are completely free.REGARDING SYSTEM BUILDER:it's available frm microsoft if u wanna get 100 or more licences a month of microsoft OS's , means it's not for end users but for some big system reatilers to pre-install microsoft OS's on their systems and not to mention it gives it's OS's to them at special prices

enuffsaid
@ prathapmlHold yer lip buddy.I know the rules, thank you very much. As the MUI's are FREE, nothing wrong with using eDonkey (or any other P2P proggie) to find them. Just as you can use those to find royalty free music. And wasn't it you who said you used P2P software extensively. Friggin hypocrit!Chill out, and reread the rules yourself.
