ati radeon mobility driver problem

I have finished all my testing of SP2, and decided to install it on all my machines. I installed it on my laptop, and seem to have issues with the radeon driver.

I don't slip stream the drivers into my xp cd, I generally install them later. None of the other drivers give me this same issue.

The problem happens when I install the drivers for the card, and reboot. Upon login, I get errors about my profile. Every account I have has this problem. Safe mode freezes when trying to enter that. This problem is reproducable 100% of the time.

I have tried using a set of hacked drivers, thinking they were the problem, but the problem persists.

Everything on my computer is updated. The only hacked files I have are uxtheme, tcpip, and shell32. They haven't given me problems in the past, and the exact same image has been used on other computers with no problem. I have done chkdsk's like a champ, but haven't found a problem. I'm coming up with a blank on how to fix the problem.

Has anyone seen this problem, or have an idea of how to fix it?

If anyone is interested in the error messages, I can post them, but a search on google turns up nothing helpful.

found the problem in case anyone is interested. Odd that it never had this problem before. The following registry key will screw up SP2 with ati mobility and possibly other cards.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
"LargeSystemCache"=dword:00000001
