Hi,

I would like to do a unattended install but am concerned that it may install on to the wrong hard drive.

I use my 20 gig HD for my XP OS. It has always labled itself as 'F' Drive. The other a 80gig HD I use for storage, (family photos/film.software, music, saved files etc etc.) It has always labled itself as 'C' Drive. I do not know why they lable themselves this way, they just do!

My concern is, if I put in the CD disk and it loads up, formats and puts a clean XP OS onto the storage drive, (C Drive) instead of the correct smaller drive, thus losing everything.

(Before anyone says anything I always back up info - but thats not the point here.

Q. 1 Would an unattended reload automatically go back onto the drive where the XP OS was? In this case the 'F' Drive (20 gig)

Q. 2 How can I make sure that this does happen and not load onto the storage drive 'C' Drive (80 gig)?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I have searched but could not find a clear answer.

Regards

The fact that they are labelled C or F actually doesn't mean much, you can change them to whatever you want.

1) Not necessarily, it depends of your winnt.sif and the way your drives are connected

2) Don't make setup install to the HD to the same hd/partition, make it ask you. It's the only step I have not unattended, as for every setup, you may want to choose a different setup.

yea, it is a good idea to leave that one attended. it is the first thing in text setup, so you only have to wait a minute or two for the stuff to load. :)
