Xp has an option for choosing which application you want to open the media in for all cd and removable drives.

My problem is that I do not get that menu anylonger. My removable drive does show up in explorer but no chance to select which application to use...

I have tried MS Autofix...no help. I guess my question is, where in the registry might I make changes?

As you suggest; a registry key will probably be easiest for your purposes, however if you have TweakUI.exe you can fiddle it in there as well.

OR, just right click on the drive -> properties -> autoplay (tab) and figure out which one is set.

I'd go with betlog. Try TweakUI.
