willpantin
I own Nero 6 Ultra Edition. The latest Nero version, which is compatible with XP SP2, was hanging during my install. I finally figured what the problem was. "Nero 6.3.1.20" itself installs fine silently, as does "InCD 4.3.0.3".However, "Nero Vision Express 2.1.2.18" was causing the installation to hang because it prompts for desired file associations for "Nero Showtime", and with silent and no GUI, it hangs. Allowing GUI, you have to check or uncheck the file association boxes desired. My question, actually, is this:Do I really need what Nero calls "Update Package 2" and "Update Package 4"?UP2 = NeroVision Express 2, Nero Recode 2, Nero ShowTimeUP4 = NeroMixIf all I need is UP1 and UP3, then that would help me make my Unattended truly silent and prompt free. But maybe some shared files are installed by UP2 or UP4?UP1 = Nero StartSmart, Nero Express 6, Nero Cover Designer, Nero SoundTrax, Nero Image Drive, Nero Burning ROM 6, Nero BackItUp, Nero Wave Editor, Nero ToolkitUP3 = InCDThanks for any help...! j4ever
well....the update package 2 is mainly for people with dvd burners, or people that want to rip movies and burn them to cd. (note that u must have a program like anydvd running in the background in order to rip/copy copy protected dvds.) i had this problem in my installation. i ended up clicking CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot the machiene, upon reboot it continued the runonce where it left off....proceeded to incd, etc. anyways, it would be nice for this to be fixed, but im done with my installation of xp pro so im not worried about unattended until i have a copy of MCE2005. willpantin
j4ever,Thanks for reply! Just a question... you said:im not worried about unattended until i have a copy of MCE2005What is MCE2005?EDIT: Found out on my own...! Here's what Media Center Edition 2005 is all about:(From http://www.xpmce.com/forum/ftopic84393.html)Dual Tuners HDTV Tuning Direct to DVD recording Up to 3 "Remote" sessions, supposedly overcoming the RDP Protocol issue that prevented the running of MCE across Remote Desktop in previous versions..like a Super version of Terminal Services Enhanced CallerID functionality MCE function shown as a core component of the "Longhorn" system, not an add-on (basically, all MCE stuff is now in the i386 install directory, not off on its own) Possible enhanced Universal IR/RF Remote Control function through use of the new Home Tablet PC..like a super PDA combined with a "Pronto" style remote Remote Access programming control like Snapstream Better editing capability of DVR-MS files Yep, MCE2005 "Symphony" sounds very promising!
