pattywack Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 I have just reformatted my hard drive because of multiple spyware, adware and virus issues. I am attempting to reinstall windows xp. Numerous times, an error popped up saying it couldn't copy the driver.cab file. I tried 4-5 times to do this and finally skipped it. Is this going to cause problems? If so, what do I do now. Thanks!Pat
splendid Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 You do have a problem.I think it is the best practice to take of the problem now because the cause is due to hardware. It could be due to1. CD: The CD might have been damaged. Check for scratch or other visual damage. You may try with another CD if you have one.2. CD-ROM: Try with another CD-ROM.3. RAM: Ram is the most common culprit if a file could not be copied during installation process.4. CPU:5. Motherboard:
splendid Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 There's another possibility if the CD is a copy or slipstreamed one. The file might have been corrupted or damaged while being burnt.
