marcbert
I am trying to get Windows XP's defrag working. I know the answer is simple, and I know the answer is out there. I got it working at one time, by using a tip that was stored on the 911cd.net forums. As we all know, the 911cd.net forums are no longer working.I have the MMC working, and the Defrag console comes up nicely. When I click on the Analyze or Defragment buttons, I get the messageDisk Defragmenter could not start.I get the same message on the command line version. The answer to getting BOTH working is the same, I just CAN'T remember what it is, and it is bugging me.Anyone? Any ideas? Please??!!

marcbert
Zoro:Sure thing. I don't know if this will be of much help, but the answer to my problem was in the PAGINGFILES registry value, as outlined on this link:MMC TutorialMy defrag failed to work, and once I set this value properly, I was able to get it to work. What problem are you having? The_ZoRo
I don't have any specific problem (other than some IRL, but that's not for this board), I'm just curious. And it's always nice to have other people do the dirty work, right? /ZoRo
