xp networking problem

My solution would be to purchase a gateway/router which can be picked up for less than $100 U.S., and solve 90% of your problems, if not 100%.

i aggred to crahak solution....

There is no need to add many protocols it will cause lag in connection... Make sure your server and client had same protocols what is important is the TCP/IP protocols. IPX is for netware i guessed...

Are you sured your network cable are correct.. Check your color coding, check your rj 45 maybe there some wire not crimp tightly...

renzki you never confirmed that you disabled the xp firewal. you stated that in network connections, there is a lock symbol on the network connection. that means the firewall is enabled. if you right click on the connection, go to properties, then click on the avanced tab, uncheck the firewall.
