Spinman
The default configuration shows My Documents, My Pictures and My Music on the start menu. Is there a way to also display my videos? Registry change?Utility (tweak or X-setup)?XP option switch? Thanks -
aresgodofwar
couldn't find a reg tweak, but you can simply drag the folder to the start button, wait until it pops up, then put it just under the shortcuts for ie and your mail program. gregD
Can't get it "under" My Pictures, it resides on the bottom of the Start Menu, just above the Log Off, etc.Hope it'll work for you. You'll have to change the locations accordingly, but...Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}]@="My Videos""InfoTip"="Vids"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\DefaultIcon]@="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\Icons\\Hardware\\projector.ico"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\InProcServer32]@=hex(2):25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,52,00,6f,00,6f,00,74,00,25,\ 00,5c,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,5c,00,73,00,68,00,\ 64,00,6f,00,63,00,76,00,77,00,2e,00,64,00,6c,00,6c,00,00,00"ThreadingModel"="Apartment"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\Instance]"CLSID"="{3f454f0e-42ae-4d7c-8ea3-328250d6e272}"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\Instance\InitPropertyBag]"CLSID"="{13709620-C279-11CE-A49E-444553540000}""Command"="My Videos""Param1"="H:\\My Videos""Method"="ShellExecute"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\shellex][HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers][HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}]@=""[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\shellex\MayChangeDefaultMenu]@=""[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\ShellFolder]"Attributes"=dword:00000000
Spinman
Thanks - I'll give it a try and play around - funny that MS didn't think enough of the video folder to give the the same treatment as pictures and music....
Spinman
gregD - thanks for the script...In as much as the folder is placed on the bottom of the menu, rather than the top of the menu with the other MY FOLDERS - I have been rethinking what I am trying to accomplish. Here's what I now envision. In the Shared Video Folder - I have a sub-folder Named "DVD Videos". In that folder are various shortcuts that start the videos. I created a shortcut that points to the "Shared Video\DVD Videos" folder - thinking that I could pin that short cut to the start menu (upper left corner). However, the pin option is not available, and the shortcut does not appear on the most frequently used list (at least during my brief testing). Therefore, I conclude that you can not pin a shortcut.Would it work if your script was modified so that it displays the "Shared Video\DVD Videos" folder instead of the "My Video" folder on the start menu? Or won't this work with non-system special folders? What would need to be done? It looks as if I would also need to substitute C:\ in place of H:\That way, I would click start>DVD Video>and then the specific video shortcut containted in the folder!1) Is this special folder icon transfered to the start menu?2) If I were to employ the MS File Transfer Wizard - would this register change be included - or would it need to be reinstalled when I rebuild my machine in the future? (Not a problem - I'll just save the reg file - just curious). Many Thanks!

Would it work if your script was modified so that it displays the "Shared Video\DVD Videos" folder instead of the "My Video" folder on the start menu? Or won't this work with non-system special folders?Don't know, and don't think so, given the above didn't work. What would need to be done? It looks as if I would also need to substitute C:\ in place of H:\I did mention you'd have to customize it to suit your system. Is this special folder icon transfered to the start menu?Whatever icon you point the reg hack to, is the one that will appear in the start menu.Insofar as the File and Settings Transfer Wizard, don't know m8, I haven't used it, nor do I ever intend to.One final note though, asking the same question (basically) in multiple posts will actually slow down the help you receive (people have to bounce back and forth to follow along). Try to keep the same issue to a single post. Hope this helps.Edit for clarity
