help: how to delete "Past Items"?

Problem:

how could i clear those in the "Past Items" without their existing programs?

where are the corresponding items in the registry to be deleted?

1. procedures accessing in to "customize notifications" window

right click on the "taskbar",select "properties" -->click on "taskbar" --->click on"customize",then, in "customize notifications" popup window,we could see "Past Items".

2. my intentions

some programs corresponding to those of the icons in the "Past Items" have been removed,yet their icons still reside in the "Past Items" list,

how could i clear those in the "Past Itmes" list ?

where are the corresponding itmes in the registry to be deleted?
