THC-Gogeta Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 i got a question about the creating a bootable windows xp cd with nero burning rom at http://members.chello.nl/a.vanheumen1/nero/ and I want to ask if I uninstall windows xp, and I use the boot disk does it install windows xp or what??
Aaron Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 I didn't understand you very well, but I'll try my best.If you followed the instructions on that page, you should have a bootable xp cd which you can boot directly on boot up (configured via BIOS). So you won't need a floppy boot disk of any kind. You can uninstall your current copy of WinXP by quick formatting over it via the XP Setup program. I'm unsure as to why you want to uninstall your copy of XP to test your CD? You could try programs such as VMWare or Virtual PC to test your CD without removing your current OS.
Aaron Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 You may be able to get trial programs of these from http://www.vmware.com and http://www.connectix.comMake sure you have a high-spec PC to test on!
THC-Gogeta Posted August 31, 2002 Author Posted August 31, 2002 for some odd reason I can't download .exe, I can only download .zip files that are small, do you know anywhere I can find them in .zip files??
THC-Gogeta Posted August 31, 2002 Author Posted August 31, 2002 the reason I'm asking this is I want to uninstall win XP pro, and put in win98SE, but If win98SE doesn't work, then I'll have to put winXP pro back and thats why i'm making the boot cd
Aaron Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 ah, well in that case, you can try booting it off the CD, and if it works you can exit the setup safely without proceeding with it. But I can't guarantee that the files you burned are ok or corrupt.
FthrJACK Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 you could use clonyXXL to test the CD for errors. visit:http://home.arcor.de/bejot[update] on checking that url now looks dead, and i dont understand the language, i thinks its dutch. try searching on google for ClonyXXL, you might find another download link for it.
THC-Gogeta Posted August 31, 2002 Author Posted August 31, 2002 i'm at a part that i don't know what to do, I'm at the part where i add the files for the boot disc, and I don't know what files to add?
THC-Gogeta Posted August 31, 2002 Author Posted August 31, 2002 if you want to talk about this directly my msn messenage: wikkid_juggalo@hotmail.comaol im: THC Gogeta
Aaron Posted September 1, 2002 Posted September 1, 2002 CDCheck - http://www.elpros.si/CDCheck/(Mentioned by FthrJACK earlier - ClonyXL is a copy protection detection app, it does have a read error check, but it isn't detailed enough to say exactly what files are corrupted, CDCheck does tell you)
THC-Gogeta Posted September 1, 2002 Author Posted September 1, 2002 you stilll didn't answer my question, my question is, what files do I add the cd from my computer, to make the boot disc, cause i don't have the winxp pro cd
Aaron Posted September 1, 2002 Posted September 1, 2002 You can't do that, sorry. You need the original setup files on CD, and not all of them are stored on the hard drive.
