Keeping SP2 off WinXP

Recommended Posts

Hello all, just joined and would like to first say thanks for this excellent application. XPCREATE is great! :) I was able to create a Win2K SP4 CD flawlessly on the first try. :w00t:

I searched through the forum hoping to find an answer for my problem but found nothing, so I appologize if this has already been covered.

Anyway...I'm trying to create an CP CD now but we are not allowed to use SP2 yet (we use too many applications that are incompatible). Is there a way to get XPCREATE to ignor the SP2 and just download all of the hotfixes for SP1? Or am I going to have to download them all myself and set DLAUTO=NO in the ini file?

Any help you could give me on this would be greatly appreciated. :)

Yes, you will need to download them all yourself, and set DLAUTO=NO. There is the last SP1 list attached to one of the more recent threads in this forum.

EDIT:: There are a few recent posts that will show you haw to put that list on your PC, or your own server, and then XPCREATE will download them from that list. Do note that the latest list I made is no longer "up to date", but it should not be missing too much.

Sorry to not be of more help, but I make XPCREATE to work with either the most current fixes, or user supplied fixes. It is much too much work to keep both up to date.

Good luck, and ... Welcome to MSFN!

Thanks GM. :)

I had a feeling that would be the case. I'll look for the list and get started with the downloads. I definitely understand about keeping XPCreate up to date with the latest fixes. You have an excellent program here and a valuable resource for us Admins. :)

Thanks again for your help

Your welcome, phasley!

Part of the problem is that some of the older hotfixes are changed or removed, and there is just too much testing involved to keep the SP1 list up to date.
