Pin To Start Menu

I was wondering about "Pin To Start Menu" on XP Pro....

I find that if I drag-n-drop a folder to the area in which .exe's are pinned,

then these folders now ONLY act as links

What I was wondering is...after mimic'ing this feature can anyone change it so the folders act as menu's??

I haven't been able to do it as of yet. Whenever you do that you change a couple reg key's and being they in Binary, they are somewhat tricky.
