kungfumaster9 Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 Hi all!I've attached part of my winnt.sif file below for inspection but my question is quite simple; if I have more than one HDD installed in a computer, how will WinXP's autopartitioning affect the two drives? Will it just delete the partitions on the first disk drive i.e. the master or will it erase all data?;SetupMgrTag[Data] AutomaticUpdates=Yes AutoPartition=1 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes"[unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS Repartition=Yes UnattendSwitch=yes WaitForReboot=NoThanks for your time!
Kleopatra Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 AutoPartitionValue: 1Installs Windows to the first available partition that has adequate space for a Windows installation and does not already contain an installed version of Windows. Either omit the AutoPartition entry from your answer file or set the value of AutoPartition to 1. If AutoPartition = 1, the /tempdrive command-line option of Winnt32.exe is ignored. If you do not set the value, text-mode Setup installs Windows on the partition where $WIN_NT$.~LS is located.
MHz Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Repartition=Yeswill delete first partition, format and install automatically.
kungfumaster9 Posted August 29, 2004 Author Posted August 29, 2004 Repartition=Yeswill delete first partition, format and install automatically. So it will leave all other partitions and other disk drives alone?
Kleopatra Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 No. Repartition=Yes delete ALL partitions on first drive.
kungfumaster9 Posted August 30, 2004 Author Posted August 30, 2004 So am I right in thinking that it will leave the second, third and so forth hdd alone? Sorry to bother you, but I don't want to destroy my data! Regards
Kleopatra Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Repartition= YesHDD 1 will completly delete (all partitions)HDD 2 and so on keep alive
kungfumaster9 Posted August 30, 2004 Author Posted August 30, 2004 Thanks. Phew! Now that that's sorted out...
