Jerry Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 When I slipstreamed to XP pro sp1, I didn't need six floppies. What gives? Is there a boot image available somewhere?
Jerry Posted August 27, 2004 Author Posted August 27, 2004 ...eh, does anyone have any input on this? Thanks.
Bâshrat the Sneaky Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Err....Did you search?Check http://www.bootdisk.com. If it isn't there, it probably doesn't exist yet.
oioldman Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 I went to httpp://www.microsft.com and did a search for XP boot Floppy and got these results, which includes links to XP Home and Professional, from Original , SP1 and SP2 to create the bootable floppies needed.Resulting Linkhttp://search.microsoft.com/search/results...=xp+boot+floppyHope it helps.Could be though that the slipstreaming didn't work, hence you don't have the needed files to boot the cd.
prathapml Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Are you trying to say that your CD is not booting and so you want to use floppies to boot-up and start setup?Or are you just confirming whether you need the floppies in order to boot for SP2?The bootable floppies aren't necessary - just use the same old boot-sector from the old WinXP CD. If you've GOT to use floppies for some reason, then you have to use 6 floppies - there's nothing less, and even SP1/SP0 releases of windowsXP needed 6 floppies. Win2k needed 4 floppies to boot into setup.
Jerry Posted August 27, 2004 Author Posted August 27, 2004 Everything is A-OK for now.I used the old boot sector, burned a new disc, and setup didn't ask me for the floppies. Thanks again.
