cruiser
Hi,I recently installed Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and used the MSFN guide to convert it to a workstation. The problem is that MSFN only posted the "modified" msi's for PC-cillin 2003, and I have a copy of Internet Security 11 (or 2004).Can anybody tell me how to install IS (it wont install directly on 2k3) on 2k3? or post a "modified" MSI of it?There are several apps that I need to install that are not meant for 2k3, is there a generic way of fixing this?I know these apps were not meant for 2k3 but most of them work. Thanks for the awesome workstation guide MSFN!! Please help.ThanksCruiser.
LiquidSage
get a msi editor (Installshield, Wise,MaSaI...) and delete the install conditions. YOur apps still may not work on 2003 however.
Br4tt3
get a msi editor (Installshield, Wise,MaSaI...) and delete the install conditions. YOur apps still may not work on 2003 however.MSI can be a pain in the back since many appz are hardcoded for dependecies and so on. My advice is to edit it through WISE if possible and hope that the installation of your app is not wrapped in another installer, such as Installshield! Chem
Open a command prompt and navigate to the install file (setup.exe probably) and add an /a command to it.should look something like this:C:/foldersetc/setup.exe /aOr grab an evaluation copy of Installshield X and edit the MSI's yourself.Installshield X is EXTREMELY user friendly, and will walk you through editing the MSI's.Here's a direct link to Installshield: X professional edition:http://mars.installshield.com/is/x/1002/wi...XSP2ProEval.exeEvaluation key is proteus2004.It's a little over 400 megs.
