Download Executable Warning Message

Recommended Posts

You guys know that if I want to download an executable file off internet explorer, or to run an executable off a computer on LAN, there is a pop-up warning message saying blah blah, then at the bottom of the dialog it grayed out a line "Always ask before blah blah this type of file".

The question is, how do I disable this dialog so it never ask again if I want to download or run my programs.

A lot of thanks!

YEAH RIGHT!!!

If it's GRAYED, how are you going to uncheck it?

I believe there is a switch that you can turn it off in the registry.

Just like the Outlook Attachment default block.

"Always Ask Before Opening This Type of File" checkbox...

1st,download files from internet with ms IE,"Confirm File Open" check box..

can be configured by:

a,registry key..("EditFlags"...)

start,run,regedit,then expand to:

hkey class root,xxxfile..(xxx is just the file type, file extension name..)

in the right pane,change the value of registry key "EditFlags" from 00 00 01 00 to 00 00 00 00

for example:

...path 4 .zip files here in registry should be "hkcr, zipfiles,EditFlags"

b,folder option settings:

winxp/2k...

start,run,control folders,then 'file type TAB,select a file type,(4 example:.zip file type,type Z from keyboard.. :D),then 'advanced option,select 'Confirm File Open option,apply;

win98/me,windows explorer,'view/'tool menu,folder options..."

2nd,excute or download option:"Always Ask Before Opening This Type of File" check box,the option is grayed out & unavailable..?

Microsoft explains that:

File Download dialog box for two primary reasons: safety and choice...

however, some file types r system predefined...

that is why the check box(Always Ask Before Opening This Type of File) of some file types r unavailable & greyed out...,as a result, the option won't be presented as a choice...

it was pubulished in mS knowledge base article Q232077..

"Executing Files by Hyperlink and the File Download Dialog Box"

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;Q232077

The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Internet Explorer (Programming) 4.0

Microsoft Internet Explorer (Programming) 4.01

Microsoft Internet Explorer (Programming) 4.01 SP1

Microsoft Internet Explorer (Programming) 4.01 SP2

Microsoft Internet Explorer (Programming) 5

Microsoft Internet Explorer (Programming) 5.5

but mS ie 6.0 in win-XP/2k/me/98,need verificationS...

:blushing:

hope it helps..
