Problems changing boot screen

Featured Replies

Hi guys ,

I downloaded from here some kick a** boot screens , the problem is installing them .

The instruction are here

I did as the site instruct me but when i downloded the files , i got 4 files

which are : the bmp , the bar bmp , ntoskrnl.exe , ntoskrnlsp.exe.

I am using sp1 so i delete the ntoskrnl.exe and paste the edited ntoskrnlsp.exe ,

but for some unknown reason i am getting the same xp built in boot screen.

What's worng?

ChiDragon - I did replace the file in Safe Mode .... i also notice that that original BMP is wight 15kb , and the one i replace is wight 320kb , maybe that is the problem?

Did you rename it (the new file which you copied) to ntoskrnl.exe ?

Moreover, replacing by hand can be dangerous. StyleXP will keep your current kernel and add a BMP of your choice to the boot-screen - try it.

Or try bootskin by StarDock.
