PayPal announced that an email making the rounds is a hoax to try to

obtain private information from its users.

The email's contents warns recipients that PayPal computers have gone down

and some member data was lost.

The email instructs users to follow a link and log into their accounts to make sure

their information is correct.

The URL looks deceptively like that of PayPal using the domain paypalupdate.com.

PayPal advises users to never give their passwords to anyone and to only log in at PayPal's Web site.
