hi everyone,

has anybody successfully integrated both promise sata378 and promise fasttrak with setup?

i've gotten most of it to work except for promise sata378 and promise fasttrak. it's because they have the same hardware id in the database

can anyone help? or any suggestions?

I have succesfully added both, but only tested in VPC. For what that's worth ...

As you mention, both have the same PnP PCI ID, so with both present, Windows will always pick the same one as the best fit. I consider this to be very shoddy engineering, and for this reason, I will not be purchasing any Promise Controllers (who knows what else they've overlooked ... ).

You could add both, and then pick the desired driver after setup.

Sorry, that's the best suggestion I could come up with.

sorry, i thought i took it out of xpcreate, coz i didn't know where to put it, i figured i should put it on windows xp or something

No problem. Do post if you find a better solution than my meager "suggestion". I'm not too optimistic, and still disappointed in Promise on this one.
