darkelf_gazza Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 I've got a really annoying problem going on just now.Every time I start up my computer, half the time my sound doesn't work through my speakers. It DOES work through my headset thingy, but the sound quality on that isn't all that good what with it being a single earpeice and besides, it came with SOCOM Navy Seals for the PS2, so I don't think it's really designed for listening to music with.Restarting seems to do the trick, but that's annoying in itself, and besides this shouldn't be happening in the first place. My speakers are pretty old, had them since 1998 or thereabouts. But they're still pretty decent for non-5.1 sound, but I've been thinking of buying news ones, since my sound card supports 5.1 channels, although 5.1 speakers are pretty hard to find under the £50 mark sadly.Any help would be appreciated.
MCT Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 hi sound drivers.. update your drivers.. 5.1 audio ill take a stab in the dark & say your using SoundBlaster 5.1 card? if updating 2 the latest drivers doesnt work (they are old drivers, early 2003 i think was last update)try download "KX Project" Drivers .. they should work thats what i use & i have a soundblaster 5.1 cardNote: if your card isnt the afforementioned card , download the appropriate drivers for your card regards
darkelf_gazza Posted August 5, 2004 Author Posted August 5, 2004 I'll try that. I'm using a C-Media card (X Wave 7000) and I've got my drivers for it from Windows Update, but I'll check to make sure I've got the lastest ones
MCT Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 dont use windows drivers.. usually there drivers are much older then the newest 1's from the manufacturer.. just goto the homepage for your driver (if this is onboard sound goto your motherboard website)regards
