Unattended software installation using rundll32

Featured Replies

Hello every body! I am currently experimenting with an alternative to using a batch file to launch the various installers. Anyone who has installed Internet Explorer will have seen, when first logging in after the reboot, a window in the top left hand corner of the screen. I read some thing about this. It use the rundll32.exe to launch the various installers. Anybody here has got any idea how this exactly works. :)

That would be the runonceex. There are hundreds of threads that talk about it. Check the unattended.msfn.org site for more info.

Hi! thanks for your reply. But what I mean wasn't runonce thingy. Please check the attached document. Thanks :)

Excuse me, but the RunOnceEX method (also called INF/Windows-Update method) is exactly what you are looking for. Your attached (.doc above) contains info about some 2 things which don't work as yet - MSFN guides got those things working as well!
