Schadenfroh Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 alright, i know that it is still up in the air and that no one really knows, but if you do know or care to speculate, could you help ease my curiosity?specifically, if i were to slipstreme SP2 (the final version when it comes out) onto a xp cd and install it, would it have the following loaded on windows already:1. All critical updates up untill its release2. WMP9 or even WMP 103. DX9C4. .NET framework 1.1 (or latest)5. All the updates from windows updates (non critical ones)6. SATA drivers for SIL3112A controller (so no diskette at startup)7. Easy Way of disabling all the nagware in IE and OE that was present in the beta RC18. Possible iFrame, flash ad, banner ad blocker, in IE (i know its gonna have a pop up blocker)9. Better cookie management (ccmon, its a security update)10. Anything in SP2 that was forced their by the courts, like a way to easily uninstall allot of junk in windows that i dont need, like movie maker, journil viewer, etc. thanks
Aaron Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 1. Should be. All hotfixes up to now are labelled kbWinXPpreSP2fix in their knowledge base articles.2. WMP9, but it should have all critical updates and fixes included.3. Yes4. Has to be installed. Doesn't even have .NET Framework 1.0 either.5. Yes6. Can't verify this7. Should be possible in Internet Options > Security.8. IFRAME is still there at default security settings. Blocking flash ads is unlikely.9. Don't know10. No change, still the same as SP1.
Alanoll Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 Correction on the updates....There is a period between when the service pack goes to RTM and when it is officially released to the web or otherwise. During this period, if there is another patch issued, it may not be included in SP2 as the code has already been finalized.
