Problem with RAID

Recommended Posts

I'm at a lanparty here and I thought it would be a good idea to use my just finished xpcd (it worked fine at my sisters computer who has no RAID). But because the install is unattended there is a problem.

When windows is trying to install I press F6 and chose the right driver. Then i chose the partition. Normally windows asks for the fasttrak.sys driver (for my raid controller) just before copying the needed files, but with my cd it doesnt ask for the files and says it can't find the file.

The only option i have is to press esc, this means fasttrak.sys wil not be copied. Windows continues, but when it's finished and restarted i get a blue screen (because the drivers arent copied).

I have tried to do some things in winnt.sif but it didn't help. I don't want to compress the drivers into the install because it's too hard for me. I just want windows to ask for fasttrak.sys when copying the needed files, even if that means that it's not unattended anymore.

I'm at a lanparty here and i wanna game, so please help me :)

I used xpcreate and iso creator, the rest is done by hand (the cd worked fine at my sisters computer)

I have promise raid controller 20276 (msi kt3 ultra aru)

Thank you

I don't want to integrate my drivers because i don't know how (i've read most opics about it, still dont understand it). I just want to make windows ask for fasttrak.sys (i know it's a really simple thing, something in winnt.sif or something) even if it makes the cd attended. When i'm at home i might consider inegrating the drivers, but for now i just want my computer to work :)

whether you realise it or not, what they mean by integrating the drivers in the cd is just "Adding" them to the cd so they get installed, what u could try doing tho, is adding the fasttrak.sys file in the appropriate $OEM$ folder

i know that, but what i don't know is what to add to the txtsetup.sif. i haven't found an example of somebody with the same raid controller and i dont know how i can figure out what to put in there. the information in the fasttrak.inf file isn't helpfull to me, because i don't understand it :) When i'm at home again i will try to inegrate the drivers, but for now, doesn't anybody know what is making windows setup not asking for the files?

i always used virtual pc, but if vmware supports RAID (so i can generate a raid controller) i'll give it a try. otherwise, it has no use, because when i test it with virtual pc it works fine.

but everybody is trying to make me integrate the drivers and stuff (with the best intensions of course :)), but doesn't anybody know what command is making windows install not asking for the drivers?

I've made a new cd and deleted this from my winnt.sif:

[Data]

AutoPartition=0

MsDosInitiated="0"

UnattendedInstall="Yes"

[unattended]

UnattendMode=FullUnattended

OemSkipEula=Yes

OemPreinstall=Yes

TargetPath=\WINDOWS

Repartition=No

UnattendSwitch="Yes"

WaitForReboot="No"

Windows install now coppies fasttrak.sys, but after the first reboot i get an error. Something about the files is wrong (i have the dutch version, i can't translate it right). So some of these commands must be in the winnt.sif and at least one of them is the cause of my problem.

http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/reference.htm explains a lot, but i'm not that good at english and some things are explained a little strange :)
