My computer has been freezing up a lot lately (no error messages, just locks up and the only way i can reboot is by turning everything off at the power source).

i've noticed this happens after i've downloaded windows updates.

i'm trying to remove the last round of downloads, which includes 2 hotfixes.

Is there a [free] program that lets you uninstall hotfixes??

can't seem to find anything

any help is much appreciated, thanks!

You can remove the hotfixes from Control panel, Add/Remove Programs.

They are towards the bottom of the list.

But are you sure that the hotfixes are the problem?

Run a spyware program like AdAware and a virus scan to double check. I would suspect there to be some spyware on your machine.

Hope this helps.

hi, thanks for the quick reply.

i actually can't remove these 2 particular hotfixes from Add/Remove programs. it doesn't give me an option that says change/remove. I just get a message telling me to reference "Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) KB810243" to get further assistance. No link is provided, though, for that assistance.

i did run AdAware, and later Spy Xterminator, and removed a ton of spyware. But i'm still having the same hang ups.

i'm trying to purchase a remove hotfix backups program at dougknox.com, but am having trouble with that too! (paypal is down or something) Has anyone tried this program ... does it work??

looks like it's gonna be one of those days... :)

Never heard of it...

I would suggest checking the MS knowledge base for removal of hot fixes... They wont charge you either. - i asume it wont let you roll back before these hotfixes?

Have you got the latest service pack?
