Activate XP windows\system32\wpa.dbl

I read that the file windows\system32\wpa.dbl can be copied before a re-install of windows then copied back so that you dont need to re-activate windows(on the same machine).

Has anybody tried this?

Yep, it does work. But don't think you can nick a copy of the file from your mates activated copy of WIndows and transfer it to a different machine. It doesn't work.

i think the hardware config has to be similar for that to work.

has to be almost exactly similar and the HDD can't have different serial numbers
