rhawk79 Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 so I'm running a script that does the following, after the XP installinstall sp1 (if necessary), rebootinstall directx9, rebootinstall wmp9, rebootinstall hotfixes, rebooti'd like to optimize this a bit and cut down on the reboots. i'd like to install dx9, wmp9, hotfixes, and then reboot...is this ok? i'm asking because some of the hotfixes are fixing issues in wmp/directx, and i'm not sure if i should reboot before installing them. thanks!
neophyte Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 First thing, integrated SP1 into the CD if you haven't already done so.Second thing, use RunOnceEx to do all the installations for you.See:http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/runonceex.htmYou can further trim the time down by doing this:Install DirectX 9, Install Wimp9 - RebootInstall hotfixes - Reboot.
rhawk79 Posted July 12, 2004 Author Posted July 12, 2004 thanks for the tip. i can't integrate it onto the cd because this is being done on brand new computers out of the box...and computers for repair that come into my shop...i need to detect all of the updates and then install what is not already present...everything works great i just wanted to optimize it a bit
