my theme is killed?

i have use a theme called sentinel and it always works fine. now it dont work anymore.

yes i have put it in \Resources\Themes\Sentinel_Blue2.theme

and in winnt.sif this

also use this in regtweaks.reg

i am very sure i dont change whatever of both things, but what it could be is a bad regtweak or nlite have ripped too much out of my cd. i have a clean i386 placed in the unattend cd. i have minimized my regtweaks and ripped out the exprimental regkeys and the problem stays.

rightclick on background>theme i see my theme is there. when i click on it, the background change to the theme background but my startmenu and configuration windows and explorer stays classical.

i also use a new thing to my winnt.sif and at VMWare it works fine

who recognized this problem?

Sounds like you are not using the patched uxtheme.dll or if you are it's possibly being overwritten by the original.

i have take a look in the system32 map, there is no map dllcache as if from \System32\dllcache\uxtheme.dll ???

i have found 2 of the 4 things, i have found the uxtheme.dll and uxtheme.old in system32....

i have xp professional SP1, is it a problem i dont have a map called dllcache?

edit: i have take a look on a other pc which have installed a orginal xpcd and that pc also dont have a map called dllcache.....

i have downloaded a new uxtheme.dll and replaced it in system32, it wont help....

it could be an error with the theme file itself. If there is one entry wrong, it won't load.

Also, why don't you just replace uxtheme.dll on the XPCD in I386? Eliminates the possibility of having wrong file.

Also, SFCDisable does NOT WORK. Might as well remove it, as it is replaced during Setup and First Logon, and Every Logon there after with the default value.

but i never have change what ever on that theme. i have used it many and many times by all of my inattend installs.

i have replaced the uxtheme with a new downloaded uxtheme and the problem stays.

i will removed the sfcdisable in winnt.sif

could it be a bad regtweak? it is not possible because i dont have any tweaks about that.....

See SystemFileProtection

By setting SFCQuota=0, you have allocated 0 space for the dllcache.

Typically, when applying a custom theme without the patched uxtheme.dll, Windows will revert to the classic theme. The fact that this is happening in your case suggests that you are either not using the correct uxtheme.dll or it is not being copied during the installation.

I can't speculate as to what the specific problem is. What were the last changes you made to your unattended installation immediately before this problem started?

i just PMed him a link to a proper uxtheme.dll file....hopefully that works....

I'm still opting for either the theme is copied over, or there is a problem with the theme itself (Bad path or something)

my last change were added some regtweaks to enable quicklaunch(right from startbutton) as

i have removed the 3 keys and that wont help.

i also added a key

and i have shrink this keys to 6 lines which are important for me and that also wont help

and also added winamp5(from alanoll and extrememac) +dutchlanguagepack to my unattendcd.

also remove my i386 map and place a clean orginal i386 and shrink it again with the newest nlite 0.97b i dont have removed whatever what was red line, only some green things as if cameradriver, infrareddriver and and and...

also place a new k-lite version and a new nero version.

i am very sure i dont have changed what ever on the uxtheme.dll and the command lines to copy the uxtheme.....

it is hard to believe for me but the problems grows with the hours...

alanoll have explain me about a uxtheme.dl_ to place it in the i386, i have do that and create a cd with nlite and now i get a error during setup: could not copy uxtheme.dll, retry, abort, ignore? ( i am still suprised he talked about the dll and not the dl_ so setup have uncompressed it )

alanoll also explain me to type EXPAND uxtheme.dl_ to get his orginal size but i get an error.

Or you can get a SP2 uxtheme.dll file for YOUR version of SP2 and do what the page says, and you're still done.

i dont have SP2, simply because there is no SP2 for the Xp Dutch. but ok, i will make a new one by myself. brb.......

edit: the one which you all can download what is ready to use, uxtheme.dl_ is 76 kb, which one i have created with modifyPE is 102 kb

but after all, this theme always works good and now it is killed and i dont believe i have to do that...... so i first try my own created uxtheme first.......
