shnigganoo
Apart from using the registry is there an *.exe that is commonly available for the use of actually removing a service and not just disabling it.We test a tool that has a batch service but with each new release (weekly at the mo) we have to edit the registry to remove the service and then go and create a new one. Now that's fine for us in test but if we roll out live with this and the issue is not addressed I would not be keen on the support group doing this as mistakes could easily be made.Any ideas anyone? oioldman
Why would you want to remove a service from the system? For example, in WindowsXP if you remove the BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)) service you wouldn't be able to install ServicePack2 as it is a required service and also the WindowsUpdate function wouldn't work, so surely to disable and have if needed is better and safer in long term.Just my thoughts. Why would you need to delete/reinstall the service. (assumption is you are creating service) Otherwise, why not make your own batch file that 'removes' the key and then re-creates whatever keys you need. tguy
Search Google or Support.Microsoft.Com for delsrv.exe. You will need to download the executable, expand it, and install it.Then go to a command prompt and type: delsrv <name of service>That should do it.
