Enabling Quick Launch through registry or script

Greetings phreax,

After searching the MS site and Google extensively, I have yet to find a way to activate the Quick Lanuch toolbar on the start bar. Regmon and Filemon do not detect anything, which leads me to thing that it is a parameter that is kept in memory and only saved somewhere when the user logs off.

By activation i mean setting a registry key or running a script, not one that sends keys but one that could run during an unattend.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Anyway, the below is a registry tweak for what you want (copy and paste it into your existing RegistryTweaks.reg file) - and it will work on WinXP SP1 machines and above. If you don't have SP1 installed, you need a different set of tweaks (than what is provided below).

I have encountered this solution, but unfortunatly it get's reset once you log off.

I just tried it on my current machine and on a clean build and it seems to have no effect at all... Logoff and on again with no quick launch toolbar to be seen...

You have to apply the above regtweak at cmdlines (T-12) stage.

Or from GUIrunonce.

If you attempt to apply it when the explorer shell is running, it will get reset at log-off with the settings from desktop.
