matze Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Hi all,I have created a boot DVD with XPCreate and all went very fine for me. But now I have in the root of c:\ all the hotfix directories:c:\ 4425c99b8d ... update [sp2] update.exeWell, I'm a tolerant guy, but this looks a little too much messy;) The bad thing is: I cannot delete those directories! My guess is that uninstalling the updates would help, but surely that won't be my favourite solution...Does anybody know what I could do to get rid (or move) these folders??And, while we're on it: What did I wrong when creating the DVD layout? Thanks and bye Matze
GreenMachine Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Welcome to MSFN, matze!I have seen that myself sometimes, and sometimes not ... I do believe it is the POST install hotfixes that cause this: try removing them to see if the directories are no longer created. There really isn't much I can do from inside XPCREATE.Please try NOT adding the POST install hotfixes, and post back!
matze Posted July 7, 2004 Author Posted July 7, 2004 Thanks for your welcome;)Finally I figured out the reason why I was not able to delete the files: the root directories (the cryptic ones) were okay, but everything below (files and directories) had Administrator as read owner, but the write owner was empty. Therefore nobody would ever be able to modify these files...The solution: Just share each of the files and subdirectories, allowing network users to modify, and then you can delete. Of course this is an erreanous behaviour, but in this case I love it Thanks and bye Matze
GreenMachine Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 That'll work! Perhaps simply taking ownership from the propeties page will allow you to delete them as well. Thanks for sharing your solution!
