Virtual PC/Server Networking Win2003Ent Issue

how are you ..

i m new to this forum.. and i dont know if many of you might be using

virtual operating systems.. or guest OS as M$ calls 'em..

now here is the problem

I want to prepare for my Microsoft Exchange Exam..

I just have one machine.. and cannot arrange or afford another...

The specs of my current box are

Hardware Specs:

P4 2.8 HT

Intel Original 865GBF

2 chips of 512 MB PC3200 DDR RAM -- that makes it 1 GB RAM

Network Adapter 100/10M Ethernet PCI Adapter

ATI Radeon 9200SE

Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Sound Card

2 80 GB IDE SATA Seagate Drives

1 40 GB IDE ATA Samsung Drive

52x32x52x LG CDRW

Software Specs:

Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition Build 3790.srvr2.030624-1700,

Service Pack v. 1023

DirectX 9.0b (4.09.000.0902)

Q147222 HotFix Installed

and there are no updates either critical or normal to be installed thru

windows update as of now..

Now lets come straight to the point... what I want..

1. To run multiple Guest OS, mainly Windows 2000 Professional SP3 and

Windows XP SP1 thru Microsoft Virtual PC 5.2/Microsoft Virtual Server

2005 Beta...

2. To network the Host OS and the Guest OS ON WINDOWS 2003 ENTERPRISE

SERVER

3. To work out/figure out or you can say merely practice all the

features of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 in a domain environment under

Windows 20003 Enterprise Edition... in a networked environment within

Virtual PCs... i.e. all of those are able to ping each other share

files... login accounts.. rights.. shares send and receive mails.. apply

policies etc... etc..

I used Connectix Virtual PC 5.2, Microsoft Virtual PC 5.2 but i could

not connect the Guest OS and the Host OS

Recently i came to know that Microsoft released a Beta version of its

Microsoft Virtual Server 2005..

So i got my hands on Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Beta thru IRC... (tsk

tsk.. try packetnews.. BetasIRC...hush hush)

I installed and configured that on my Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition..

but i still face the same **** problem that i am not able to connect the

Host OS and the Guest OS thru TCP/IP

But i tried using Virtual PC 5.2 on Windows 2000 and Windows XP .. there

were no problems... and my network card gave me a connected session and

started sending and receiving bytes like any normal network device...

But no avail in Windows 20003 Enterprise Edition... The installation

goes on very smoothly.. Virtual Server 2005 or Virtual PC 5.2 both

install their service drivers and ask for that Digital Signing stuff..

and all those things go on normally... my network card works normally as

such.. but i dont know why it cannot connect with the Guest OS.. though

it can do so thru other Operation Systems... but not under the Windows

2003 Enterprise Edition Environment...

Is there anyway.. this can be done??

This is the version of Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Beta...

Virtual Server version 1.1.445.0 EE

Administration Website version 1.1.445.0

But i just cant figure out why i am not able to network my Guest OS and

my Host OS on Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition...

Any kind of support is eagerly awaited...
