leedolman
In device manager my firewire adapters are displayed under the "network devices" tab as well as under the "IEEE 1394 bus host controllers" tab.how do you prevent them from being displayed under the network tab? I know you can do it because on a fresh install not so long ago they didn't appear under I probably aren't making sense, but I know what I'm on about
XtremeMaC
I sense a little pickyness here anyways 1 way to do it is to remove the 1394.inf so that windows will not find the hardware, 2nd way which doesn't remove it is u can disable the device3rd why would u want to not display it? I mean how many times do u look at the network tab anyways?
leedolman
haha i spose I am being picky I was jsut wondering why sometimes they are displayed under BOTH 'network adapters' AND 'ieee1394 controllers' and sometimes just under 'ieee1394 controllers'
XtremeMaC
ow that's because it can be used as connecting to a hardware (external hdd per say.) AND to another computer directly or through a hub.that's the reason..I mean it beats crosslink cable, on my laptop I've 10/100mbit network card + firewire, so i personally use the firewire cable to connect to my friends computer for transferring files and playing games..
