XPerties Posted July 2, 2002 Posted July 2, 2002 Ok michele won this at work in a raffle, now its a vid/camera/microphone. I installed the vid manager which is version 1.00 and on the box it says "Works great with XP"...well it did at first but now I have 167 pictures on it and about 2 min of a .AVI movie on it of the fireworks and her kids at the amusment park. Now the dam software used to upload the pictures and movie is "Not responding" on every try in XP. I called the company and they say "blah blah blah".....pointless as you probably already know. I installed the latest off the websitePocket DVwhich turned out to be the same version that came with the camera, hell these pictures are need very bad that I formatted XP and had a nice freash install with just the Vid manager to see if that would help. Nothing. So my question is............Anyone suggest another type of software that might help getting these pictures off the camera and/or the .avi also????-XPerties
Blackwar Posted July 2, 2002 Posted July 2, 2002 Hey xperties,i want to ask if the camera is a firewire connection , usb or what is it?because if it is one of those plug and play ones, xp should automatically detect it for you, and read it off like it is a normal drive (it appears as a drive in my computer once you plug it in...)You might want to try out Xp's own import function thru the control panel.. "Scanners and Cameras" Blackwar
XPerties Posted July 2, 2002 Author Posted July 2, 2002 Its a USB and XP doesnt reconize it at all, but funny thing is when I go to a software app such as netmeeting it uses that Aiptek DV to get a picture. There no promblems in the device manager with the camera, its listed as a still/Vid camera. Any suggestions on software to upload the stuff to the PC?-Xperties
Blackwar Posted July 2, 2002 Posted July 2, 2002 if you know by any chance, is it a TWAIN based camera?EDIT -- I know photoshop has an option to import from cameras, have you tried that?Blackwar
XPerties Posted July 2, 2002 Author Posted July 2, 2002 just tried it, locks up everytime.....any other software guys?-Xperties

Blackwar Posted July 2, 2002 Posted July 2, 2002 you can get a 30-day trial from http://www.jasc.comthat should be more than enough time to import your pictures Blackwar
MSNwar Posted July 2, 2002 Posted July 2, 2002 Software wise, I use Umax Magic Scan. It ships with the highend Umax Scanners and has worked in similar situations with my all friends cameras and scanners. I also use M$ Word and M$ Office Doucument Imaging built into M$ Office for XP.Try disabling all capture devices execpt the camera. Device Manager - Sounds, Video, Games - legacy video devices, Properties - Select Do not use and do not map everything except your camera. All this does is disable other video devices that may be overriding the drivers for the camera. Similar to disabling network devices as you know. I had the same problem with a cheap first generation camera last summer.
