premier69 Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 I've updated my ram ,instead of having 1x 512mb pc2700 ram installed I now have 2x 256mb pc3200 on slots 1 and 3 running in dual mode That's good right? I got 1400 points more in pcmark2002 I still have 2 free ram slots, can I take an additional 2x 256 cards of the same type and manifacturer and put in slots 2 and 4? And run dual dual? Does built in features on a mainboard, like Lan and Audio slow down system performance?if it helps answering my question i have a Asus P4P800 mainboard with the latest BIOS file.
Deezire Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 It is possible.. you will be running Quad Channel then...but...I don`t think it can sustain the pc3200 standard..so i believe i`ve one`s heard that it will go back to pc2700 or even pc2100 speeds if you set more than 2 modules on your motherboard..So it is possible..but i don`t think you will gain anything in performance... But you can still try O ..and for that on-board features.. they will consume only a small percentage of your CPU .. (1 or 2 %)(sorry for Bad english)
premier69 Posted June 2, 2004 Author Posted June 2, 2004 yeah i think i will try it, benchmark before and after installing more ram to test the gain
