vanhelsing Posted May 25, 2004 Share Posted May 25, 2004 How do you disable the welcome screen in XP? I want to have the user be brought automatically to the desktop screen upon restart or reboot. I have tried going tocontrol panel > user accounts > change the way users log on offbut I get the error window "automation server can't create object"and both options - use the welcome screen and use fast user switchingunchecked.I have also gone to gpedit.msc to see if I can turn off the welcome screenbut found no option that works. It has a neat little section to configure auto-logon...(it's just a reg setting, but, TweakUI is much quicker and easier for us laymen). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
