Local Area Connection

I know that sounds anal, but I want to keep XP Unattended from automatically using "Local Area Connection". Most of the workstations I build have one NIC and if it were maybe something like On Board LAN Card or similar it would be less M$ in my eyes. I know that you can rename a NIC in the registry (HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Control\Network), but it is usually specific to that one device. Is there a regkey that I could import during the GUI setup or maybe something in the hive*.inf files located on i386 of the CD contents?
