n3m3s1s
I'm going insane, i've tried for the last 15hrs in collaboration with lots of different techs on irc and phone etc etc.... Please help, any contribution would be greatly appreciated. Objective:I have a new laptop, blank slate... it's got (2) 60gig drives in it.. It has a Promise FastTrak 100 Lite controller in it... The HD's are setup for Raid 0 data striping in the bios... I want to install windows xp pro onto the machine with this raid...Problem:1st) These drivers aren't included in the standard Promise FastTrak Package.. so i need to use these drivers that the laptop company provided from Promise.2nd) In order for me to do that i need a floppy drive. This doesn't have an internal floppy drive. However to solve this i bought a Sony External USB floppy drive..3rd) When i boot into the winxp pro install from cd, in the beginning it gives me the option to press F6 to install a RAID or what not driver.... so i did that... Eventually it gave me the option to specify the drivers... i chose that option.. i was able to specific the promise fasttrak 100 lite winxp drivers... at that point i'm able to get as far as ... the part where i can partition it and format the drive as ntfs.. etc etc... RIGHT AFTER that.. it tries to copy some files to C:\ .... But it can't.. it is now asking me to insert the Promise FastTrak diskette back into A:\ drive.... I'm infinitely frustrated because i never took the disk out... it's in there... it's in the A:\ all the drivers everything,.. nothing changed i didn't take it out... yet it says insert the disk into A:\ ?!!?!?!! I unplug usb plug back in hoping it will re detect.. no dice.. I'm so frustrated... Please help.I've tried slipstreaming drivers.. once it gets to the point right before partitioning and formatting the drives i get a blue screen of death and it says run chkdsk /f .... if someone is willing to modify my slipstream files and if it works i'd pay u some money thru paypal or if u can help me figure it out with the usb floppy drive i'd pay u thru paypal too! Mike-C
Would copying the files from a over to c work? Not sure. Or the other alternative is get a non-usb floppy drive.
Marsden
Does the Laptop support USB in the BIOS? Is BIOS support for USB turned on?
