xp's ntfs file system

I am running XP on one hard drive and ME on the other. The XP drive recognizes the ME but the ME not the XP. Is there a way to get past this? Or how do I format the XP drive? :)

WinXP would have to be installed into a FAT32 patition if you want WinME to read XP's files and folders. This is because WinME doesn't recognise NTFS.

Although... I believe there are third party applications that allow you to read NTFS partitions when you're in Win9x/ME. I saw one on Betanews.com about 3 weeks ago. Try searching on Google.com or FileForum.com.

The thread about dual booting ME and XP seems a bit unrelated to Win9x/ME OSs reading NTFS partitions don't you think MSNwar?

g-man- if you would like both OS to be read by one another simply put your XP disk in and boot from the disk. Its will ask you which partition to install XP to and pick your current XP drive. It will then ask you to format that partition. Youll be given 5 options. Choose "Format (drive letter youve choosen) c: or d: using the fat file system"...do not choose the fast format option, use normal. That will format the XP OS and reinstall XP as fat32 and allow ME to see XP.

Some of the links in the thread to Microsoft's How-To Articles and the white sheets explain the multi-boot process. This link reflects exactly what you suggested and I thought it might be helpful:

Installing More than one operating system.
